Day Two
My goal here is to keep you interested in what I write on this website. For your information I am seventy-seven now and approaching eighty more quickly than I ever thought I would. Yet, to still be walking and breathing with no maladies to speak of is rather miraculous. To put a finer point on my age, I didn’t ever have the nerve to think I would get any older than 22. I was, at that time, in the thick of Vietnam combat with very few alternatives to slip away to. So, I fought, grinned and beared it.
Although Vietnam was a long time ago, war imprints itself on a persons brain in technicolor memories of what we saw and did. Living this long with all of those unspeakable visuals is not easy but does grow a bit blurred with time. Time is something I thought I would have a near eternity of. Turns out for myself as it turns out for everyone who ever walked this earth, it is quite short as time speeds up in a quite mysterious way once you turn fifty. It is what it is though and living without complaining is the only way to face it. “Gird your loins” is one way to put it. A shrug of the shoulders is the way I handle it. So what? Did I expect some miracle? Nah, it happens when you are looking the other way.
I rediscovered my enjoyment of writing around 2001. I had not written more than a thousand words since college as I went into subcontracting out of college. Glass and glazing was my profession and I owned that company. It was quite a run but eventually I sold it for a decent amount then taught the golf swing on a local golf course. Change is always good and refreshing isn’t it?
Even that was long ago now, so I write each day well over a few thousand words. I do my best to bring people along through my writing and working back to the knowledge of the written word as best I am able. This keeps my mind sharp and my mind is something I do not want to lose
I write this in welcome to my readers. I do not take my readers for granted and understand that I am lucky to have you as so many websites now exist. In the background I am experimenting with various methods of making this website better so you will see changes now and then as I experiment with software to make your visits more enjoyable.
As to the word, “Xog,” it is a word I came up with to be a fun, even if general, title for most anything I think could of as I run along this path, My interests are first and foremost, the bible and so many varied and sundry topics that follow so that I will never run out of material until life runs out. When I mention age I am accepting age and what it portends. I do not shirk away from anything as I learned to face most all there is that can ruin one’s day long ago. After you come here be of good cheer. That is all I can offer you on the practical level and I will strive to make your visits better and better. OK?
